Pins #58 & #59: One Jar, 2 Pins
As procrastination would have it, I’m blogging now about a pin that I executed at this EXACT time last year. We had just moved into our new house in Edmonds, WA, had just finished at our preschool for the year and had about 3 weeks before any of our other friends were out of school and before camps started. These are the weeks when you THINK not having a schedule is going to be a glorious break that actually turn out to be the longest weeks of the year trapped at home with your kids if you’re not careful. So when I saw this ‘Summer Fun Jars’ pin, it sparked a great idea:
I googled ‘kid friendly activities in Edmonds, WA’ and entered them into this jar. We drew them out randomly to explore our new neighborhood. I used this jar that reminded me of the jar my mom used to keep cookies in on top of our refrigerator when we were kids.
Once the ‘Adventure Jar’ was nearly tapped out, or at least the weather had turned and we got too busy to need it anymore, we repurposed it. I saw this pin about recording your memorable moments from the past year around Christmas time and changed the label of the jar to read ‘2013’. We’ve been putting in all of our happy/memorable/milestone moments in the jar and can’t wait to read them all out on December 31, 2013. So far moments include Milo’s first steps, Colette’s birth, Luca’s last week at Woodland Park preschool, me and Andrew’s overnight date in Seattle before Colette was born and many more great moments.
PS – The adventure jar still exists in a smaller form and gets to hang out with some pretty jars in my kitchen window:
59 down….41 to go….
